Ben Hankinson

Upon retiring from pro hockey in 1998, Ben began representing NHL players as a partner of SPS Hockey. Ben joined Octagon Hockey in 2006 when his partner, Jeff Solomon, became an Assistant General Manager with the LA Kings. Ben’s combination of playing and business experience as an agent provides Octagon clients with tremendous insight and expertise.

Born in Minneapolis, Ben graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Business Management, Speech Communications, and Psychology, receiving honors for academic achievement. Ben was captain of the University of Minnesota hockey team, where he helped the team to two WCHA league championships, four NCAA tournaments and two Final Four appearances. Over his four-year collegiate career, Ben set a Minnesota record for career penalties and was the recipient of the University of Minnesota Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.

Ben began his professional career with the New Jersey Devils and played seven years of professional hockey with the Devils, Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings organizations and served as the club’s captain in each of his last three professional seasons.
