While Octagon is proud of its performance in negotiating NHL and marketing contracts; our clients will face a variety of issues during their careers, both on and off of the ice. Therefore, our client commitment far exceeds the historical agent/client relationship of negotiating contracts.
Hockey Career
Contract Negotiation - Contract Negotiation is a vital part to a hockey player’s career and a negotiation is built upon solid decisions and unyielding preparation. Poor decisions cost players money. At Octagon, we are constantly analyzing the ever-shifting marketplace and educating our clients about the dynamics of a “Salary Cap System”, which will allow us to advantageously position our clients.
The NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement - The CBA is a detailed legal document that contains the rules that govern the relationship between a player and his club. Octagon has countless years of experience in dealing with CBA issues that arise during the course of a player's career including, salary and grievance arbitration, player assignments, waivers, pension, insurance and workers compensation benefits.
Junior and Pro Camps - Octagon continues its commitment to their clients/prospect’s hockey development by organizing summer camps that places an emphasis on what it takes to turn a dream into a career.

The Octagon staff, which consists of five former professional hockey players, share their insight with clients/prospects as they develop their careers. In addition, Octagon utilizes the expertise of Kevin Ziegler (off-ice training), Barry Karn (power skating), both of whom have worked with NHL clubs and a variety of guest instructors (college/pro).
NHL Draft Preparation - At Octagon, we understand that the NHL Entry Draft is, in one sense, the culmination of each player’s countless hours of dedication and determination. On the other hand, it is the beginning of a long quest to become one of the world’s best hockey players. It is an emotional time for Players and their families. To ensure that the player remains focused on his performance during the year leading up to the NHL Entry Draft we assist with the following preparations:
Entry Draft/Scouting Updates
Review NHL Testing Protocol
Player Promotion/Marketing
Prepare for Pre-Draft Interviews
Arrange Flight/Hotel Arrangements
