In October 2004, Allan merged his hockey representation practice with Octagon Hockey to further extend Octagon Hockey’s global reach. Allan’s client list includes elite players such as the NHL’s first overall draft choice in 2003, Marc-Andre Fluery, among several other stars that include, Martin Havlat, Patrik Elias and future stars David Perron and Derek Brassard. Allan is based in Los Angeles and is consistently ranked by the Hockey News as among the most influential people in hockey.
Allan was born in Montreal, graduated from McGill University, and thereafter, from Southwestern University School of Law. Allan started his law career as a Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County; a criminal trial prosecutor assigned to the prestigious Hardcore Gang Division. In 1995, with a passion for hockey from his youth in Montreal, Allan left the D.A.s office and co-founded Can-Am Sports Management Group, a hockey representation firm with his partner David Schatia and developed offices in Montreal, Los Angeles, Calgary, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
Today Allan can be found as a panel member of any number of sports lawyers’ seminars in Canada and the United States and on Twitter where he is the most followed hockey agent actively tweeting about his clients and their accomplishments.
